200 Seniors Attend Senator Sanders' Free Movie Screening of "BlacKkKlansman"
September 14, 2018
State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway) hosted a free movie screening of "BlacKkKlansman" at the Jamaica Multiplex on Friday, September 14, 2018 as part of the festivities for Senior Appreciation Month.
"I am proud to be participating in this year's Senior Appreciation Month,” Senator Sanders said. “It is important that we as a community recognize our seniors and show our unwavering commitment to them, and send a clear message that the best things in life come with age."
Some 200 seniors attended the movie, which was directed by Spike Lee. "BlacKkKlansman" is based on the true story of the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department and his mission to infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan.
We would like to thank our event sponsor, New York Construction Alliance (NYCA). We would also like to thank the Jamaica Multiplex, for allowing us to use their space.
