Earth Day Poster Contest Winner - Congrats to Nyema Grimes of PS 251 in Springfield Gardens
May 4, 2018
State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway) is pleased to announce that the District 10 winner of the New York State Senate's 2018 Earth Day Poster Contest is Nyema Grimes, a fourth grader at PS 251 in Springfield Gardens. Her inspirational poster explains the important reasons why people should recycle and the different categories of reusable items such as aluminum, glass, paper and plastic. Her creative use of vibrant colors and large images to convey a message of ecological responsibility made her poster a true gem.
Congratulations to Nyema Grimes on a job well done and a special thank you to all of the students who participated in the Earth Day poster contest as well as their parents and teachers for making those entries possible.
"We have many talented, creative and artistic young people in this community," Senator Sanders said. "They are all winners, and I hope they will continue to study and expand their knowledge about the serious challenges facing our environment."
