Senator James Sanders Jr. Hosts Successful Mobile Office at the Horizon at Locust Manor
July 28, 2018
State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village) brought his mobile office to The Horizon building at Locust Manor on July 28, 2018 where his staffers met one-on-one with residents, listening to their concerns and suggestions.
"The Mobile Office gives me an opportunity to hear about the issues that are affecting the lives of my constituents as well as how to make the community better," Sanders said. "They have entrusted me to represent the district and serve them to the best of my ability and that is what I am here to do.”
Some of the concerns raised by residents were the need for greater information on the resources available to them, particularly regarding activities for children, business and entrepreneurship opportunities, and a lack of proper lighting under the overpass near the Long Island Railroad stop between Bedell Street and Baisley Boulevard.
The Mobile Office initiative was created as part of an effort to reach out to more constituents and make it easier for them to access services. It will travel to different areas of Senator Sanders’ district on a rotating basis. While at The Horizon at Locust Manor, Sanders’ staffers took careful notes and filled out constituent intake forms so they could examine specific issues in greater detail and follow-up with extended help.
We would like to thank Beverly Danields, the property manager at the Locust Manor complex for partnering with us and allowing us to use the community room at The Horizon to host the Mobile Office. Senator Sanders will be bringing the Mobile Office back to Locust Manor, this time to The Summerset building of the complex, on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
