Addabbo concerned for religious education after Glendale Catholic school announces closure

The parents and students of St. Pancras School in Glendale recently received the news that the Catholic school will be closing down at the end of this school year. State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. regrets seeing another Catholic school shut its doors, especially one in his district.

“It saddens me to see a fine Catholic school forced to stop operations due to a lack of funds and low enrollment rates. St. Pancras has been educating children and growing the Catholic faith in Glendale for over 100 years and it is a shame to see that come to an end,” Addabbo said. “I am concerned for the students and parents as they decide an educational direction after St. Pancras.”

Additionally, Addabbo has expressed concern for all Catholic institutions and the future of religious education in the city.

“As enrollment dips in more and more Catholic schools, I fear that the option of religious education may become a part of the past,” the Senator stated. “I hope to see the students of St. Pancras return to another Catholic school at the start of the next school year in order to boost the numbers at other schools in an effort to keep Catholic education alive.”
