Addabbo to host two free prostate cancer screenings in district
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr.
March 5, 2018
As men age, taking care of their prostate health becomes more and more important with each passing year. In order to help the men within his district, State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. has collaborated with Integrated Medical Foundation to bring a pair of free prostate cancer screening sessions to his offices this year.
The first free session will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Addabbo’s Middle Village office, located at 66-85 73rd Place, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The second free screening session will be held later this year on Saturday, September 15 — during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month — at Addabbo’s Howard Beach office, located at 159-53 102nd Street from 10 to 11:30 a.m. An individual interested in either of the screenings must register for an appointment by calling the Senator’s office.
“It is vitally important for men to be screened annually for prostate cancer, especially as they get older. Some constituents may not know much about prostate health, or do not have insurance to be screened at a doctor’s office,” Addabbo said. “That is why I coordinated with the great people at Integrated Medical Foundation to bring two prostate cancer screenings to my district. Everyone deserves to have a clean bill of health, and if anything is wrong, it is crucial to catch prostate cancer early. I encourage men to call my office and schedule an appointment in April or September for this important free test.”
Both sessions are open to men age 40 or older who have never been previously diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer, whether or not they have insurance.
The screenings will involve a PSA blood test, administered by a qualified health professional from Integrated Medical Foundation.
Participants must bring with them a photo ID containing their address, such as a driver’s license, as well as one self-addressed stamped envelope addressed to themselves in order for Integrated Medical Foundation to notify them of their exam results.
Appointments for both screening sessions are required as space is limited. Anyone interested in attending one of these sessions must call Addabbo’s Middle Village or Howard Beach offices at 718-497-1630 or 718-738-1111 to schedule an appointment.
