Sen. Griffo secures funding for Lewis County Fair
July 20, 2018
LOWVILLE - State Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-I-C-Rome, announced today that he has secured $50,000 in funding for the Lewis County Fair.
For the last three years, the fair has had to set up a tent to handle the overflow crowd at its cattle barn. Now, with the funding secured by Sen. Griffo, the fair will be able to build a permanent structure.
“County fairs like the one in Lewis County provide farmers, presenters, vendors and visitors with a chance to showcase and see a variety of trades and products,” Sen. Griffo said. “As such, it is important that we make sure that these fairs have the necessary resources to ensure that they are successful. It was my pleasure to secure this funding because I know that it will greatly improve the fair experience in Lewis County.”
“We appreciate Sen. Griffo’s efforts in obtaining this funding to help with the construction of a permanent structure that will help us to better showcase Lewis County agriculture,” said Lewis County Fair President Doug Hanno. “We hope to start construction on the new facility this fall or early spring so that it is ready for next year’s fair.”
The Lewis County Fair, which is located at 5485 Bostwick St. in Lowville, is open from 10 a.m. to midnight and runs until Saturday. For more information, visit www.lewiscountyfair.org or call 315-376-8333.
