Queens Families and Educators to Receive 40,000 Books

What: UFT Queens Borough Office Book Giveaway
Who: The United Teachers Federation, the American Federation of Teachers, the NAACP, Borough President Melinda Katz, State Senator Leroy Comrie, Assembly Member Alicia Hyndman, Assembly Member Clyde Vanel, and Council Member I. Daneek Miller
When: Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 9:00 AM until the last book is distributed
Where: P.S. 15Q, 121-15 Lucas Street, St. Albans, NY (entrance on 121st Avenue)
Why: Senator Leroy Comrie and other Queens elected officials are joining the United Federation of Teachers Queens Borough Office, as well as the AFT and NAACP, to help sort and distribute 40,000 books for local families and educators. Parents will be able to select up to twenty books, while teachers will be able to select up to fifty. The distribution will operate on a first come, first served basis, but registration is required. Additionally, Senator Comrie is soliciting volunteers who can commit time on Friday, May 4th and Saturday, May 5th to helping organizers sort and distribute books. Residents are encouraged to lend a hand in helping the community and making a difference in the lives of our local children and young adults.
