February 21, 2018
What: Second Annual Military Black History Month Celebration
Who: State Senator Leroy Comrie and Senator Comrie’s Veterans Advisory Committee
When: Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 6 PM until 8 PM
Where: American Legion Post 483 Rosedale 240-08 135th Avenue, Rosedale, NY 11422
Why: Military history is black history. Since our nation was founded, African Americans and Caribbean Americans have put their lives on the line to defend the United States. Southeast Queens is the proud home of countless men and women who have served our nation in every conflict from World War II to the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In peacetime and in war, at home and abroad, they served with exceptional valiance, resolve, and, in many cases, the awareness that their country would not guarantee them the freedom and justice for which they fought upon their return. Their experiences provide unique insights into what it means to black in America. Senator Comrie is not only proud to honor them for their service, but also to give them a platform from which they can share their stories with the community.
