Statement from Senator Comrie
July 11, 2018
"I am pleased to say that the MTA Long Island Rail Road has agreed to restore the historic Lefferts Boulevard bridge. I thank my colleagues in government—namely Council Member Karen Koslowitz, who has secured $1 million toward the cost of the repair, Assembly Member Daniel Rosenthal, whom I worked closely with on this matter in Albany and the community, and the late Assembly Member Michael Simanowitz, who was a strong advocate for the bridge merchants and community. But, the biggest thanks goes to the community, represented by the Kew Gardens Civic Association, the Save Kew Gardens Coalition, and the bridge merchants, who stood up, spoke out, and organized against unfair treatment from the get-go. I will continue to work alongside my partners in the community to ensure that the LIRR follows through on its promises and protects the existing businesses on the bridge."
