Senator Krueger Urges Department Of Health To Establish Maximum Contaminant Levels For Chemicals In Drinking Water

New York - Today State Senator Liz Krueger released a letter to State Department of Health Commissioner Howard Zucker urging him to set Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) for PFOA, PFOS, and 1,4-dioxane. The Department had been waiting for a report from the state's Drinking Water Quality Council, which failed to meet a statutory deadline of October 2nd. The Department has stated its goal to begin testing for these chemicals in drinking waters supplies by the end of this year. In order to meet this goal, it must quickly establish MCLs for these chemicals. The letter is available to download from this page, and can be viewed below.
