GENEVA – Senator Pam Helming today announced that three housing developments in the Wayne-Finger Lakes region will receive a combined $11.1 million. This funding will create 160 affordable homes for individuals, families, and senior citizens.
“The success of our job-creating businesses and our industries relies first and foremost on the success of our families and communities. Families and communities in turn need affordable, dependable housing in order to grow and thrive. These three projects in the Wayne-Finger Lakes region will not only support our families and seniors by ensuring they have good homes in the communities where they want to live but they will also drive economic development and job creation as a result. I was proud to advocate for this funding to be included in the New York State budget, and I am glad to see it benefit the people of the Wayne-Finger Lakes region,” Senator Helming said.
The awards for the Wayne-Finger Lakes region include:
- Fair Haven Apartments Company I in the Village of Fair Haven, Cayuga County: The project will receive $1.2 million to rehabilitate a 24-unit building serving senior citizens age 62 years and older. Units will contain Energy Star appliances and lighting, and residents will have access to a laundry room and community room on premises and a handicap-accessible van transportation service provided through Cayuga County.
- Pintail Crossing in the Town of Farmington, Ontario County: The project will receive $4.8 million to build 64 affordable homes for families in the high-performing Victor Central School District.
- Milton Meadow Apartments in the Town of Lansing, Tompkins County: The project will receive $5.1 million to build 72 affordable apartments for low- to moderate-income individuals and families. The nine two-story buildings will be built to meet the NYSERDA Low Rise Construction Program and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver standards.
