Senator Helming Honors Seneca County Veterans During Seneca Falls Event

SENECA FALLS – Senator Pam Helming recognized 19 veterans who live in Seneca County during a veterans recognition ceremony at Kirk-Casey American Legion Post 366 in Seneca Falls on Tuesday, November 27. The veterans were nominated by family, friends, and community members for the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame, and they were among a total of 120 nominations Senator Helming received for this prestigious award across the six counties that she represents.

The Seneca County veterans honored at this event included Spc. 5^th Grade Fred L. Adams, of Waterloo; Pvt. Wayne L. Campbell, of Waterloo; Sgt. 1^st Class José Caraballo, of Waterloo; Machinist’s Mate 1^st Class Michael Caskey, of Ovid; Lt. Col. Douglas S. Daeffler, of Waterloo; Sgt. Maj. Raymond D. Dalinsky, of Romulus; Pfc. Ralph A. Felice, of Waterloo; Airman 1^st Class Edward L. Hilliard, of Waterloo; Lt. Col. Charles O. Holmberg Jr., of Ovid; Cpl. Joshua Jones, of Seneca Falls; 1^st Sgt. Shannon Kelley, of Seneca Falls; Sgt. Louis M. LeBrun, of Waterloo; Senior Master Sgt. Richard A. Marsh, of Waterloo; Maj. Robert B. McCann, of Romulus; Sgt. Fred Newton, of Seneca Falls; Airman 1^st Class Kenneth Padgett, of Varick; Seaman 2nd Class Joseph V. Perdicho, of Seneca Falls; Master Sgt. Erick J. Rice, of Romulus; and Airman 1^st Class Theodore Young, of Waterloo.

“Among our nominees, some of them served during World War II, others in Korea or Vietnam, others in more recent conflicts, and still others served during peacetime on home or foreign soils. They represent the five branches of the U.S. military – the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard – and they are male and female veterans. What they all have in common is that at one point, they signed a contract, committing themselves to our country and saying they would lay down their lives to protect freedoms. And for that, we are all eternally grateful. It was a privilege to recognize our veterans and extend to them our heartfelt appreciation and deep gratitude for their bravery, personal courage, and selfless service to our great nation, the United States of America.
