GENEVA – Senator Pam Helming today announced that she has been named to the Circle of Friends by the New York State Farm Bureau. This distinguished honor is a reflection of Senator Helming’s unwavering support of local farmers and New York State agriculture during the 2017 legislative session.
“Agriculture is the No. 1 industry in the Wayne-Finger Lakes region and is a top driver of job creation in our local communities and state. With that in mind, it just makes perfect sense for me to support legislation and budget measures that help our farmers grow and thrive. I am honored and humbled to receive this honor from New York Farm Bureau and look forward to a continued and successful partnership during this year’s legislative session. It has been a pleasure to work with New York Farm Bureau President David Fisher and the Presidents of the County Farm Bureaus throughout the Wayne-Finger Lakes region,” Senator Helming said.
“New York Farm Bureau congratulates Senator Helming for being named to the 2017 Circle of Friends. It recognizes her voting record on a host of bills that are important to farmers in her district and the rural economy as a whole. We look forward to continued collaboration with her as the new session gets underway in Albany,” New York Farm Bureau President David Fisher said.
The Circle of Friends distinction is based upon Senator Helming’s voting record on issues related to agriculture as well as her sponsorship of bills that New York Farm Bureau supports. As Senate Chairwoman of the Legislative Committee on Rural Resources, Senator Helming has been a strong advocate for legislation that supports New York’s farmers and job-producing agriculture industry.
“Senator Helming is a tireless supporter of agriculture. Through the hard work and diligence of her and her staff on rural issues, her effective leadership skills have proven to be invaluable to the hardworking men and women who farm here in the Finger Lakes region. We in the ag community, are very fortunate to have Pam Helming as our representative in the New York State Senate. She is a true friend who goes above and beyond to serve her constituents,” said John Sorbello, the District 3 Director for New York Farm Bureau.
“Senator Helming has been a great friend to the county Farm Bureaus in her district, and we could not be more pleased to see her named to New York Farm Bureau’s Circle of Friends. She is dedicated to understanding agricultural issues, and her voting record in Albany reflects that. We look forward to working with her this year to support family farms and our rural economy,” said Skip Jensen, Field Advisor for the New York Farm Bureau.
“The Seneca County Farm Bureau is thrilled that Senator Helming's dedication to agriculture has been recognized by receiving the New York Farm Bureau Circle of Friends award. Senator Helming's dedication to the farms and people in her district has been demonstrated by her availability and voting record. We look forward to continuing to work with her in the coming year,” Seneca County Farm Bureau Ann Marie Heizmann said.
Senator Helming represents the 54th Senate District, which consists of Seneca and Wayne Counties, parts of Cayuga and Ontario Counties, and the towns of Lansing and Webster. For more information, please visit Senator Helming’s website, or follow @SenatorHelming on Facebook or Twitter.
