Senator Helming Recognizes Colorectal Cancer Month at Clifton Springs Hospital

CLIFTON SPRINGS – Senator Pam Helming joined representatives of Cancer Services Program of Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates Counties and officials from Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic for an event at the hospital recognizing Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Senator Helming spoke at the Friday, March 23 event, showing support for those facing a cancer risk or dealing with a diagnosis and those who have lost family members and friends to the disease. She also helped form the Human Blue Ribbon with other participants, wearing blue as the official color for this special month.

“Even with modern-day advances in medical technology, cancer is still a dreaded word that no one wants to hear. Thankfully, treatments have improved and survival rates have increased, but a cancer diagnosis or even a risk is still something that stops people in their tracks and can become a heavy burden to bear. Cancer Services Program of Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates Counties supports local people in our communities who are facing a cancer risk or diagnosis, from offering free cancer screenings to those who otherwise couldn’t afford them to helping people obtain health coverage for their treatment to providing education about prevention and early detection. That is why I am proud to continually advocate for this worthy local program at the state level and proud to help form the Human Blue Ribbon in recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month,” Senator Helming said.
