Senator Helming Recognizes Professional Women of the Finger Lakes Honorees

CANANDAIGUA – Senator Pam Helming recently recognized 11 Wayne-Finger Lakes region high school students who received Professional Women of the Finger Lakes Scholarship Awards during a ceremony at the Canandaigua Yacht Club. The organization awarded a total of $5,000 to outstanding young women who have demonstrated academic excellence, through community service, and dedication to furthering themselves by enrolling in higher education. Senator Helming presented certificates to each of the scholarship recipients. The recipients included: Melina Brunelli, Gracie Nicol, Maggie O'Brien, Alicia Quarterman, Nikolle Van Stralen, and Lindsey Weykman for the Gold Scholarship; Karli Fosco, Kiara Kolaczyk, Claire Radak, and Genevieve Gray for the Silver Scholarship; and Jubilee Newton for the Sue Adkins Memorial Art Scholarship Award.
“The mission of the Professional Women of the Finger Lakes is to support women professionally, personally, and politically through advocacy, education, and information. With that in mind, the organization proudly recognizes the next generation of female leaders through this scholarship program that honors their academic excellence and community service and supports their higher education and future endeavors. These 11 young women truly represent the best of the best among their peers, and I know that each and every one of them has the potential to go on and do great things for themselves and for our community. I enjoyed having the opportunity to get to know them and celebrate their achievements,” Senator Helming said.
