During President Donald Trump’s visit to Fort Drum this week to sign the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), State Senator Patty Ritchie had the opportunity to meet with former Fort Drum and 10th Mountain Division Commander and current Chief of Staff of the United States Army, General Mark Milley.
A four-star general, General Milley is now the highest-ranking officer in the United States Army. General Milley served as the 10th Mountain Division’s Commanding General from November of 2011 until December of 2012.
During his tenure on Fort Drum, General Milley joined Senator Ritchie in Albany for her first-ever “Fort Drum Day”, which highlights the contributions of the Division to our national security, as well as the ways in which the installation benefits our regional and state economies.
In February, Senator Ritchie hosted the Senate’s 7th annual 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum Day at the Capitol, where she was joined by the 10th Mountain Division’s Commanding General, Major General Walter Piatt.
