State Senator Patty Ritchie joined Cape Vincent Mayor Jerry Golden, Town of Cape Vincent Supervisor Edward Bender and Jefferson County Legislator Bobby Cantwell Friday at Cape Vincent’s East End Park for a special groundbreaking ceremony for the park’s new pavilion,
“The St. Lawrence River is a tremendous asset, but with some forward thinking—such as what Cape Vincent is doing with this project—a community such as Cape Vincent can become that much bigger of a draw for all types of tourism,” Senator Ritchie said. “I am pleased to be able to help this community continue to reach its goals and I am excited to see how this new pavilion and picnic area does just that.”
Senator Ritchie secured a $100,000 grant for the project, which includes a pavilion, bathrooms, lockers, a grilling area and picnic tables. The funding will allow Cape Vincent to create an area of the park that will be inviting to boaters and other tourists, and hopefully encourage them to also visit the downtown area.
“Through this new pavilion, we will boost tourism and help encourage even more people to visit Cape Vincent and the Thousand Islands,” said Village of Cape Vincent Mayor Jerry Golden. “We are proud of the way our community came together to make this happen and thank Senator Ritchie for playing a role in that effort.”
“I’m proud that by working together, we are one step closer to making the East End Park Pavilion a reality,” said Cape Vincent Town Supervisor Edward Bender. “We are grateful for the help from Senator Ritchie and look forward to seeing the day when it is completed.”
“Cape Vincent is a special place, with so much to offer,” said Jefferson County Legislator Bobby Cantwell. “We are excited this project is moving forward and thank Senator Ritchie for her support.”
