Ritchie Presents Oswego County Sheriff with NYS Senate Commendation Award

State Senate Patty Ritchie Recently Honored Oswego County Sheriff Reuel Todd with the New York State Senate Commendation Award for his lasting contributions to Oswego County. Sheriff Todd is retiring at the end of the year.
Known to many as “Moe,” Sheriff Todd began his career in law enforcement 43 years ago as a deputy in the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department. Todd’s commitment to community service, safety and security allowed him to rise through the ranks and become Oswego County Sheriff 19 years ago.
“Sheriff Todd has been a true public servant throughout his life. His commitment and dedication to Oswego County through not only is profession, but his personal volunteerism, has enriched more lives than we’ll ever know,” Senator Ritchie said. “He is leaving behind a tremendous legacy and will forever serve as a role model for all who follow in his footsteps. I am truly honored to be able to present him with this special recognition.”
As sheriff, Reuel Todd has served as Chair of the Executive Committee of the New York State Sheriff’s Association and played a critical role in providing around the clock security at Scriba’s nuclear power plants after the terror attacks of September 11th, 2001.
In his free time, Sheriff Todd has volunteered with the local Meals on Wheels program, while also taking part the Boy Scouts, the Oswego Rotary Club and the Elks Club. Sheriff Todd also served as a coach for several youth baseball leagues.
The New York State Senate Commendation Award recognizes exceptional people who have made a lasting contribution to their community. Award recipients devote their personal time, energy, creativity and expertise to others. They also are leaders in their community who enrich the social, health and educational well-being of their fellow citizens.
