State Senator Patty Ritchie is announcing she has secured $50,000 in state funding for the Town of Minetto to make significant upgrades to its Sunken Gardens Park.
Funds secured by Senator Ritchie will help the town improve the park's recreational opportunities and address safety issues with walking paths and trails. The town also plans to make the park more inviting by installing paved walking paths, five park benches and a 16-foot gazebo, which Minetto hopes will host many community events.
“Parks are such an important part of every community, especially in Oswego County. Once completed, this project will transform a seldom used town park devoid of features into an attraction for all ages,” said Senator Ritchie. “I am happy to be able to secure funding for this important community resource.”
"We were extremely impressed with the Senator's prompt response to our request for assistance,” said John Familo, Deputy Supervisor for the Town of Minetto. “Senator Ritchie's recognition of the worthiness of this project speaks well of her knowledge, understanding and commitment to even the smallest communities in her district."
The release of the funding is subject to state approval.
