“The Governor's mass pardoning of over 24,000 parolees is not only absurd but legally dubious. I find it highly doubtful that the Governor and his team could thoroughly review and individually pardon over 24,000 different cases in under a month’s time, going well beyond the use of executive power. Each pardon should be made upon individual review of each case, thus preventing the use of mass pardon as we have just witnessed exercised by Gov. Cuomo. While on the topic of pardons, what exactly was the criteria involved in the approval process? The overall lack of honesty and transparency throughout this entire process has left law-abiding New Yorkers uneasy and rightly so. Once again the Governor has placed his political ambitions ahead of sound public policy.”
