Today, Senator Rob Ortt (R,C,I,Ref-North Tonawanda) presented $55,000 in education funds to five local libraries and one local school district from eastern Niagara County. Representatives from the Lockport Public Library, Royalton-Hartland Library, Newfane Library, Barker Library, Wilson Library and the Lockport School District all gathered at Lockport Public Library to participate in the check presentation. This specific funding is designated for schools, museums, and libraries and can be used toward the addition or continuation of certain educational programs. Some of the programs that will be funded with this aid include the hiring of additional mental health counselors, the purchasing of a mobile library to deliver books around the community, and the creation of a STEM program.
“Ensuring our local libraries and schools receive the funding necessary to create new and continue existing educational programs is essential if we are to give every child the best opportunity to be successful,” said Sen. Ortt. “The design of this aid is intended to directly impact and improve the education of our students, which makes every dollar that is invested into these various programs extremely beneficial. I am thrilled that I was able to help deliver these funds to our amazing educators.”
