Earlier this week, Senator Rob Ortt (R,C,I,Ref-North Tonawanda) presented $25,000 to three education facilities located in Monroe County: the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES, the Ogden Famers Library, and the Brockport Seymour Library. The funding will help complete certain projects including the purchasing of new computers and copiers for public use, the addition of audiobooks for students with special needs, and the construction of a genealogy collection for use by local residents.
“We must continue to support our public libraries and educational facilities. So many residents in these rural areas rely on these establishments to access information,” said Sen. Ortt. “It’s encouraging that one of the projects chosen for this funding includes audiobooks for students with special needs. As Chair of the Committee on Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, I know how important it is for our special needs students to have the same opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.”
