Today, Senator Rob Ortt (R,C,I,Ref-North Tonawanda) joined the Supervisor of the Town of Sweden, Kevin Johnson, and several other board members to cut the ribbon on the town’s new inclusive playground. This playground, which was made possible thanks to state funding, was constructed so that children with disabilities can exercise and play alongside able-bodied children their age. The construction of all-inclusive playgrounds is an initiative Sen. Ortt has been immensely supportive of with this playground in the Town of Sweden the latest one constructed.
“As Chair of the Senate Committee on Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, I talk with families who say how impactful and special it is to see their two children play together when one suffers from a disability,” said Sen. Ortt. “I don’t want any child left on the sidelines to watch due to a disability, and I’m pleased that our state has recognized the importance of making these new playgrounds accessible for all children.”
