SERINO TEAMS UP WITH DRESS FOR SUCCESS TO EMPOWER LOCAL WOMEN
March 14, 2018
HYDE PARK, NY - Senator Sue Serino (R,C,I - Hyde Park) announced today that she has once again teamed up with Dress for Success Dutchess County to help support and empower local women to meet their professional goals. From March 19th through March 30th, Senator Serino’s Hyde Park District Office will host a clothing drive to benefit the local non-profit organization and will be collecting new or gently used women’s professional attire, shoes, handbags, and accessories to help local women ‘dress for success.’ This year, the organization is particularly in need of new or gently used blouses, tops, pants, handbags, and closed toe shoes.
“I am excited to be partnering with Dress for Success again this year to help empower local women to reach their goals and achieve economic independence,” said Senator Serino. “I know from experience how intimidating it can be to enter the professional world for the first time when you have no idea how you’re going to afford the attire that it requires. A person’s wardrobe should never be a barrier to their ability to advance in the workplace, and Dress for Success plays a critical role in providing local women the tools they need to overcome obstacles to thrive in work and real life. Despite the snow, spring cleaning season is almost upon us and, this initiative presents a unique opportunity to give back and support countless women throughout our area.”
"Dress for Success Dutchess County is a program of Community Action Partnership for Dutchess County. Our mission is to empower women throughout the Hudson Valley to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help them thrive in work and in life." said Robin Blue-Brown, Program Director of Dress for Success Dutchess County. “We serve a very diverse group of women of all ages, ethnicities, sizes and professions all sharing a deep desire to look their best and feel confident during job interviews and prior to embarking upon new careers. Women are styled and coached during private suiting appointments in our Boutique. Items of greatest demand are: new or nearly new blouses, tops, pants, handbags and closed toe shoes. As in the past, we look forward to partnering with Senator Sue Serino for various events such as last year’s roundtable event and clothing drive. For more information about Community Action for Dutchess County and its programs contact Liz Spira, CEO: espira@dutchesscap.org.”
A sponsored program of the Community Action Partnership of Dutchess County, Dress for Success Dutchess County is a local non-profit organization who works tirelessly to offer long-lasting solutions that empower women to break the cycle of poverty. This drive is part of Senator Serino’s efforts to highlight the achievements of local women throughout the month of March, Women’s History Month.
“When we empower women to work together to help one another succeed, we all win,” Senator Serino continued. “This initiative is just one way that local women can come together to help other find their inner strength so that they may overcome the obstacles on their path to success and independence.”
Community members can drop off their donations at Senator Serino’s Hyde Park Office (4254 Albany Post Road) on Monday-Friday, 9:00am and 5:00pm from March 19, 2018 until March 30, 2018.
