Putting A Roof Over Their Heads: Senator Murphy's $5,000 Grant Provides Funds To Fix Brewster Public Library's Roof
September 18, 2018
Brewster, NY - There have been many poetic tomes and songs written about the intoxicating effects of a rainstorm. For patrons and staff at the Brewster Public Library however, rainstorms have meant dealing with a leaky roof.
Senator Terrence Murphy recently left the staff at the library singing in the rain when he presented them with a check for $ 5,000 to fix the roof. The remaining funds will be used to purchase new computers.
"The Brewster Public Library is an important social institution that provides much needed resources - education and training, job search resources, and Internet access among many other invaluable services," said Senator Murphy. "I am proud to help put a roof over everyone's heads."
Library Director Gina Loprinzo stated, "The Board of Trustees and the staff of the Brewster Library are very appreciative of the funds provided by Senator Murphy. Sometimes we have unexpected expenses, such as a roof repair, or even a "wish list" of things we like to have such as new technology. These kinds of things aren't necessarily in our operating budget, and we have to look for ways to come up with the funds, so we are grateful that Senator Murphy is so supportive of our libraries."
Brewster Public Library provides books and other library resources for people of all ages and the information and technology that they need to develop a life-long habit of reading and library use. A part of the Mid-Hudson Library System and the Putnam County Library Association, the library affords the community the opportunity to participate in cultural, creative pursuits and activities.
