Senator Murphy's grant shows Hart

Yorktown, NY - Commuters, busy moms and dads and kids on the go don't always have time to return the books and media they've borrowed from the library. To help ease this process, Senator Terrence Murphy provided the John C. Hart Library with a $5,000 grant to install a library return box in the parking lot of the Yorktown Town Hall.
"It's all about convenience. This return box will help busy families avoid late fees," said Senator Murphy. "It's helpful to have more than one location to return books, CDs and videos, and its available 24/7 when the library isn't open. Hopefully, having this alternative option available will inspire everyone to use the library more often."
"People have been asking for this for a long time," stated Library Director Patricia Hallinan. "It's really wonderful that we've been able to make it happen. I want to thank Senator Murphy, not just for the $5,000, but also for his continued support of libraries throughout New York State. His support has made a real difference for us and everyone who uses our library."
On hand to unveil the new return box were Yorktown Town Supervisor Ilan Gilbert, Town Clerk Diana Quast, members of the Library Board of Trustees and members of the Friends of the Library.
The mission of the John C. Hart Memorial Library is to serve the town of Yorktown and the surrounding area by providing a center for intellectual, personal, and cultural enrichment to the people of all ages and backgrounds. Through the Westchester Library System, the Hart Library provides its patrons access to material and sources outside of the Hart's collections. In addition to being an active participant in the Westchester Library System, the Hart Library is actively involved with community institutions and organizations.
