August 24, 2018
Senator Bill Larkin would like to remind residents that Hudson Valley Community Services and Team Newburgh are hosting an awareness event and memorial to honor those lost to overdose in the Hudson Valley. This event will take place in conjunction with International Overdose Awareness Day on Friday, August 31st on the front plaza of 280 Broadway from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
“Overdose deaths in the United States have been increasing at an alarming rate,” said Senator Larkin. “Awareness is the first step to stemming this scourge that has been attacking every state indiscriminately. From small towns to big cities, no community has been spared the pain caused by the epidemic of overdose deaths.”
The Newburgh overdose awareness event will include a panel presentation from community members impacted by opioids and overdose, a memorial banner, Narcan training, free HIV and STD testing, a selfie awareness wall and free snacks.
