Senator Bill Larkin (R-C-I, 39th Senate District) recently announced that on the weekend of August 4th and August 5th the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry will be free to anyone who wishes to visit the “The Wall that Heals.” “The Wall that Heals” is a traveling, three-piece, replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that is currently on a nation-wide tour. The replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point. Locally, the wall will be placed at “The People’s Park” at 1 Washington Street along the City of Newburgh’s waterfront.
“It is a great honor that “The Wall that Heals” will be making a two-day stop in the City of Newburgh’s beautiful “The People’s Park,” said Senator Larkin. “I encourage all who are able, to visit the wall and take advantage of the mobile Education Center, which provides additional information about the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and its legacy.”
The Newburgh-Beacon Ferry will operate from 10:00a.m. both days with the last ferry leaving for Beacon at 6:00p.m. on Saturday and 4:00p.m. on Sunday.
