Senator Larkin Successfully Includes Funding for Monroe-Woodbury School District in Senate Budget Plan
March 14, 2018
Senator Bill Larkin (R,C,I - Cornwall-On-Hudson) voted today in support of the New York State Senate one-house 2018-19 budget plan. As part of the negotiation process, Senator Larkin fought to include special state aid to the Monroe-Woodbury School District to offset the financial impact the new town of Palm Tree will have on the school district’s taxpayers. The language included in the budget also supports accelerating the start date for the already-approved town of Palm Tree.
“I was pleased that we were able to include this important funding into our Senate Budget plan,” said Senator Bill Larkin. “The formation of the town of Palm Tree continues to be in everyone’s best long-term interest. Families with children attending private schools are expected to live predominantly in this area, driving up significant transportation and special education expenses for the Monroe-Woodbury School District. Providing this special state aid will go a long way to support any financial shortfall that the School District will experience during this process.”
As the Executive, Assembly and Senate negotiate the final budget over the next several weeks, Senator Larkin is dedicated to ensuring this issue is resolved as part of the state budget process.
