Senator Gounardes Announces Senior Resource Fair in Marine Park
September 10, 2019
Brooklyn, NY -- To provide senior citizens the latest information and resources available to them, State Senator Andrew Gounardes is announcing a senior resource fair in Marine Park on Tuesday, Sept 17, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carmine Carro Community Center at 3000 Fillmore Ave in Brooklyn. Free paper shredding and flu shots will be provided at the event. The shredding truck will park on the sidewalk outside of the center.
Partnering with community organizations, government agencies and healthcare providers, the event will update seniors about programs, services and initiatives available to them in New York State. Seniors will have one-on-one opportunities to talk about housing, healthcare, benefits and more.
There will also be an October fair in Bay Ridge.
Participating agencies include: Housing and Family Services of Greater New York, Department of Finance, Department of Transportation, FDNY, NYPD, NYC Long Term Care Ombudsman Program and more.
A paper shredding truck will come to Marine Park to help residents protect themselves against identity theft. Rite Aid Pharmacy will provide flu shots.
“I’m pleased to announce this senior resource fair and hope many seniors can come out to enjoy the fairs and access resources. Whether someone has questions about property taxes, tenants’ rights, Medicaid or Medicare, this will be a one-stop shop to help get those questions answered,” said Senator Andrew Gounardes.
