Red Cross & Senator Kaplan Make House-Call in Floral Park to Install Free Smoke Alarms; Offer Free Smoke Alarms to All Residents of Senate District 7

FLORAL PARK, NY —The American Red Cross of Greater New York and Senator Anna M. Kaplan (D-Great Neck) recently installed free smoke alarms in constituents’ homes during a Sound the Alarm home fire safety event on June 26 in Floral Park. [Click Here for Photos of Senator Kaplan Installing Smoke Alarms in Constituent Home] The smoke alarms were installed as part of an ongoing partnership between American Red Cross and Senator Kaplan to End Home Fires and educate residents on the importance of emergency preparedness.

Senator Anna M. Kaplan said “I’m grateful to partner with the American Red Cross to ensure that all of my residents have access to life-saving smoke alarms at absolutely no cost. I urge all of my constituents to sign up to have free smoke alarms installed in their homes to ensure their families are protected in case of emergency.”

Earlier this year, Senator Kaplan recorded a Public Service Announcement to educate the community about the danger of home fires, and inform residents of the availability of this free service to anyone who signs up at soundthealarm.org/li. [Click here to view PSA]

Since launching the partnership earlier this year, more than 272 free smoke alarms have been installed in homes throughout Senator Kaplan’s district. Any members of the community who would like to have free smoke alarms installed in their home should visit soundthealarm.org/li.
