Jacobs Recognizes Tapestry Charter Student, World Record Setter Jada Kenner

(Buffalo, NY) - New York State Senator Chris Jacobs today recognized Tapestry Charter School 7th grade student Jada Kenner with a proclamation declaring April 5th, 2019 “Jada Kenner Day” in the State of New York’s 60th Senate District.
“Jada Kenner’s exploits at the recent New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s Indoor Track and Field Championship’s was nothing short of amazing,” said Senator Jacobs. “I was very proud to formally recognize her accomplishments in the Senate a few weeks ago, and even more happy to join with her Mother and her school family at Tapestry Charter School to mark this special day.”
Competing against high school students in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships, the 7th grader set a new world record for 12 year-olds on the way to winning her first state championship in the 300 meter race with a winning time of 39.24. She also broke four seventh-grade state records in the 55, 60, 200 and 300-meter races.
Also present at the ceremony with Senator Jacobs were Jada’s mother Lauren Pratt, Tapestry Charter School Executive Director Eric Klapper, Middle School Principal Lyndsay Lee, representatives from Tapestry’s Board of Directors, and Jada’s teammates and classmates.
“Jada Kenner is very gifted athletically and academically, a winning combination of talent and skills that reflect very favorably not only on her, but on her family, school and community,” said Jacobs. “Whether it is as future United States Olympian, or someone who experiences great success in some other personal or professional endeavor, I don’t think this is the last that we will be hearing from this exceptional young woman,” the Senator concluded.
