(West Nyack, NY) – Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) bagged groceries along with other elected officials and first responders at ShopRite of West Nyack on Thursday to help raise funds for local food pantries.
The ‘Help Bag Hunger’ event is part of ShopRite Partners In Caring initiative, which raises money for more than 2000 charities, including, soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, senior citizen centers and other organizations dedicated to fighting hunger. Customers can purchase any General Mills product and proceeds go to ShopRite Partners In Caring or customers can charitably give.
“September is Hunger Action Month, and we are encouraging people to think of others who may be less fortunate and give a little change for change,” said Senator Carlucci. Food insecurity affects 1 in 8 adults in New York State, along with hundreds of thousands of children. No one should go to bed hungry in our nation.”
Senator Carlucci also participated in events, bagging groceries at ShopRite of Croton-on-Hudson, ShopRite of New City, and ShopRite of Tallman.
About 3.2 million people, including 11.2 million children, suffer from food insecurity and do not know where their next meal will come from, according to the United States Department of Agriculture.
