Senator James Skoufis (D-Rockland/Orange/Ulster) and Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) applauded the announcement that Rockland County will receive $296,142 in available grant funding for emergency response operations. The funding is administered by the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services through the Public Safety Answering Points Operations Grant.
“Giving emergency service providers the resources and support they need to enhance the very services that keep us all safe is of the utmost importance,” said Senator Skoufis. “This funding is essential for Rockland County first responders as they continue to put their lives on the line to help keep our residents safe. I was happy to work with Senator Carlucci to make sure this essential money was included in this year's state budget.”
Senator Carlucci said, "Securing critical funding for Rockland and Westchester Counties will ensure our 911 response and dispatch centers can invest in new technology and resources, which will save lives. Now first responders will be able to get to people in need more quickly, when seconds maybe precious."
This grant provides state reimbursement to counties for public safety operating and dispatching expenses.
