STATEMENT FROM SENATOR GEORGE AMEDORE

When we passed the budget last year, I voted against the creation of a commission to consider pay raises for the Legislature. Last night, once again in the dead of night as we were voting on the budget, a resolution was brought to the floor with little notice to give the Governor a pay raise.

I voted against it for the same reason I voted against the creation of the pay commission last year: while every day New Yorkers are struggling to make ends meet, it is just out of touch to give politicians a pay raise.
