Governor Passes Senator Sanders' Bill to Reduce Potentially Toxic Mercury in Lamps
December 16, 2019
Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway) is proud to announce that Governor Cuomo has signed another of his bills into law.
Bill S.2139 would address the serious health risks posed to New York State residents by the amount of mercury in mercury-added lamps.
Senator James Sanders Jr. said: “We want to reduce the risk of potentially dangerous mercury from getting into our water, soil or atmosphere. Mercury pollution is a serious threat to the environment and our health, and as the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
