January 28, 2019
State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway) hosted a legislative breakfast on January 25, 2019 at PS 354 in Jamaica for school principals representing Districts 27, 28, 29. There Sanders announced his partnership with the SIFMA Foundation and his plans to incorporate the group's program called the Stock Market Game (SMG) into schools in our community.
The Stock Market Game program is an engaging, real-life investment simulation that advances achievement in core educational disciplines, from math to language arts to social studies. Students learn how to conduct research, allocate resources, complete analysis and work in teams.
"Now, more than ever, it is critical that financial education begin early in life and I am eager to share the SMG experience with all NYC schools," Sanders said. "Please join me as we develop economically empowered students."
The SIFMA Foundation's Stock Market Game has a proven track record of positively impacting education resulting in increased student attendance, class participation as well as improved academic performance and financial behavior.
"I am proud to be partnering with the SIMFA Foundation in this worthy effort," Sanders said. "I look forward to seeing our students thrive and grow as a result of this program."
The SIFMA Foundation has worked with hundreds of NYC schools and thousands of teachers to help students improve their 21st Century skills, become college and career ready, and stay engaged in classroom learning with their free programs.
