Senator Sanders Proposed Capital Improvements to Rockaway Mass Transit Approved in MTA Capital Budget

Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway) is proud to announce that his requests for improvements to mass transit in his district have been in included in the MTA capital plan. 

These improvements are:

The Beach 67th street station on the A train line will be fully upgraded to be accessible to all and may include the addition of elevators.
 
The Long Island Rail Road Station at Locust Manor on Farmers Blvd. will have elevators added. 

"Our transportation system is used by many different people, but it is time to open it up to even more New Yorkers by improving the accessibility of our trains and buses," Sanders said.  "We should aim to take away every impediment that has prevented the elderly or disabled from using mass transit. We as a society must pledge that we are not going to handicap the elderly or disabled."
