Senator Skoufis Secures $15K for Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library
Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) announced that he secured $15,000 for the Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library to implement new light fixtures to help the library’s sustainability improvement measures.
“Libraries are often the centers of our communities where people go to educate themselves, meet with groups, and find jobs.” said Senator Skoufis. “It’s imperative that as we move towards a more sustainable state, we assist our local libraries in their efforts to do the same. I remain committed to ensuring everyone has quality access to libraries in our state.”
Claudia Depkin, Director of the Haverstraw King's Daughters Public Library said, “The Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library is committed to improving the sustainability of our community by taking actions that are environmentally sound, economically feasible and socially equitable. We are delighted and appreciative that Senator James Skoufis is helping us achieve our goals by securing $15,000 in legislative funding for us to upgrade existing lighting fixtures to LEDs. The library is participating in the New York Library Association’s Sustainable Library Certification Program and decreasing energy usage and costs is critical for us to receive certification.”
Skoufis plans to make more funding announcements in the weeks to come.
