Senator Skoufis Secures $15K for Newburgh Free Library
Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) announced that he secured vital funding of $15,000 for the Newburgh Free Library to purchase interactive digital kiosks.
“I was proud to fight for the funding for these kiosks that will help spread information to the Newburgh community and expand access to educational and professional materials,” said Senator Skoufis. “The reality is that not everyone has access to technology, so our libraries must be equipped to provide those resources because they are the spaces so many depend on; I will always continue to fight for and support our community’s information hubs.”
Mary Lou Carolan, Assistant Director of the Newburgh Free Library said, “We are very grateful for Senator Skoufis’ continued support of libraries as community and information centers. With the census coming up in 2020, it is imperative that our historically underrepresented community is fully empowered with information, and this funding will help us install interactive digital kiosks to do just that. With 40-60% of our residents without internet access computer use , we want to have as many tools as possible to educate and inform the community. We look forward to continuing to work with the Senator on this mission.”
Skoufis plans to make more funding announcements in the weeks to come.
