Skoufis Presents Leahy with $150K Grant for Maybrook Sidewalks
Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) recently presented Mayor Dennis Leahy with a grant of $150,000 to repair highly-trafficked sidewalks in the Village of Maybrook. The grant will be used to replace collapsing sidewalks on Homestead Avenue (Route 208) from Oak Street to Williams Street. Senator Skoufis secured this funding during the state's budget negotiations. The new sidewalks will be ADA-compliant.
Senator Skoufis said, “Delivering well-kept sidewalks are a quality of life and safety issue. Many of the Hudson Valley’s sidewalks are crumbling and municipalities in the Hudson Valley are constantly under budget restraints, which is why I have always fought to bring back our fair share of funding for much-needed infrastructure upgrades. Working with Mayor Leahy, I was delighted to secure this grant for the Village of Maybrook because it’s imperative that our sidewalks are safe to travel for everyone in the community."
Mayor Leahy said, “I sincerely appreciate Senator Skoufis’ assistance in obtaining this $150,000 grant for this infrastructure project. Senator Skoufis recognized our needs to repair sidewalks and delivered for our village. This grant will be used to replace worn sidewalks on Homestead Avenue and will make a big difference for the safety of our pedestrians."
The grant will be administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York; work on the project's design and permits will begin in 2020.
