September 16, 2019
Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I,REF-Glenville) today presented the NYS Senate Liberty Medal — the Senate’s highest honor— to World War II veteran Master Sergeant in the Army Air Corps Gilbert Wendt, who is 103 years old. The presentation took place at Assemblyman Robert Smullen’s Veterans Picnic held at Pine Tree Rifle Club in Johnstown. “It is thanks to Gilbert Wendt, fellow veteran Assemblyman Smullen, and all of our veterans who are members of the best, bravest and most compassionate fighting force for good on Earth, the members of the US military, that we are able to enjoy our freedoms and liberties. Thanks to Pine Tree Rifle Club President Paul Catucci and all the members for not only standing up for our 2nd Amendment Constitutional rights, but also for honoring those who sacrificed so much to protect and defend those rights,” said Senator Tedisco.
