Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I,REF-Glenville) presented a NYS Senate Proclamation to Galway Town Historian Phyllis Keeler for her 50 years of dedicated public service to the Town, at a ceremony held at Galway High School.
Keeler taught at Joseph Henry Elementary School in Galway for 32 years, where she was awarded teacher of the year and served as president of the PTA.
An extremely busy and involved person, Keeler also was a member of the Galway Education Foundation, Galway Pantry, 4-H Leader, Galway Library Board, Upper Hudson Historical Foundation, Galway Senior Citizens Organization and Chairwoman of the Galway Republican Committee. Keeler is one of the foremost experts and promoters of the historical legacy of Joseph Henry, a Galway resident who was a 19th century scientist and inventor and was the Smithsonian's first director.
"I was proud to present Phyllis Keeler, who is a true dynamo in the Galway community, with a NYS Senate Proclamation to honor her many years of service and for making Galway and the 49th Senate District a great place to call home," said Senator Tedisco.
Pictured with Tedisco and Keeler is Galway Town Supervisor Michael Smith.
