Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I,REF-Glenville) and Senator Daphne Jordan (R,C,I-Halfmoon) today passed resolutions in honor of, and welcomed to the Senate, the New York State 2019 NYSPHSAA Champion Shenendehowa High School Boys & Girls Swimming and Diving Team and the state Champion Niskayuna High School Boys Swimming and Diving Team.
The Shen Boys Swimming and Diving Team is ranked #1 in the state by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association. Shen captured the state championship in the Boys 400 Freestyle Relay Team and the Shen Girls Swimming and Diving Team also is ranked #1 in the state.
The Niskayuna Boys Swimming and Diving Team secured their state crown with a 189-183 victory over Great Neck South, and now won their second team championship (the first was in 2005).
"Shenendehowa and Niskayuna are outstanding schools in the 49th Senate District and while the Niskayuna Boys Swimming and Diving Team and the Shen Boys and Girls Swimming and Diving Team are rivals, there are many friendships among the students and neighboring communities and they both truly represent the elite, best of the best in their sport across the state. We are very proud of all they have accomplished," said Senator Jim Tedisco.
