April 26, 2019
Wantagh, NY - Earlier today Senator John E. Brooks was joined by Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul, Assemblyman Dave McDonough, Jones Beach Park Commisioner Erik Kulleseid, and Long Island regional director at the state Department of Transportation, Joseph T. Brown, to announce the official opening of the Jones Beach Bike Path which connects to existing bike paths and stretches from Field 6 to the West End.
“Bike trails provide a recreational opportunity which may be enjoyed by many," says Senator Brooks. "Here on Long Island, we have many wonderful parks and beaches. Being able to access them by bike, or just walking the trail, will attract people to enjoy the beauty of nature and our State Park System. “
A further extension from Tobay to Captree is scheduled to be built later this year.
