This April, State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is collaborating with Assemblyman Brian Barnwell and the American Italian Cancer Foundation to bring free mammogram screenings to Maspeth.
On Wednesday, April 17, the American Italian Cancer Foundation will have their Mammogram Bus at Maspeth Federal Saving Bank’s main branch located at 56-18 69th St. in Maspeth from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. providing free mammograms and clinical breast exams for all those who register.
“Getting a mammogram and a clinical breast exam is vital for women as they age, that is why I am proud to help bring this free event into the district,” Addabbo said. “Breast cancer has taken the lives of so many women, but it is a treatable condition if caught early. I hope women take advantage of this opportunity and register for this free event. I would like to thank Assemblyman Brian Barnwell, the American Italian Cancer Foundation and Maspeth Federal Savings Bank for helping in the endeavor.”
“Early detection is key to saving lives,” Barnwell said. “I will always continue to support these important events for our community, so I thank Senator Joe Addabbo, Maspeth Federal Savings, and the AICF for sponsoring.”
Those eligible for the no-cost mammogram and clinical breast exam include woman aged 40 - 79 with health insurance, woman aged 50 - 79 without health insurance, women who are currently living in New York City, and who have not had a mammogram within the past 12 months.
