MetroCard Van coming to Maspeth and Middle Village this month
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr.

As a way to help his constituents access MetroCard services, State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is bringing the MetroCard Van to both Maspeth and Middle Village this month.
On Wednesday, May 29, the MetroCard Van will be stationed outside of the Maspeth Federal Savings Bank located at 56-18 69th Street, in Maspeth from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Then, the van will be traveling to the St. Margaret’s Senior Center, located at 66-05 79th Place, in Middle Village from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
With many areas in his district considered to be “transportation deserts,” which means they have limited access to subway stations, residents can find it difficult to find a location that sells and refills MetroCards. Addabbo believes those residents should still have access to an easy and convenient way to take care of all of their MetroCard needs such as purchasing new unlimited and pay-per-ride cards. The MetroCard Van gives them that opportunity.
“In areas where MetroCards aren’t readily available, people must either find their way to the nearest subway station, or purchase a new card, forfeiting any money left on their MetroCards,” Addabbo said. “By bringing the MetroCard Van into these communities, it gives my constituents, especially the elderly and those who only use the bus as part of their commute, the chance to have these services right in their neighborhood. I would like to thank the MTA for coordinating with my office to bring these vans to my district.”
