Griffo and Buttenschon announce signing of bill honoring Officer Kevin Crossley

New York State Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joseph Griffo, R-C-I-Rome, and Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, D-Marcy, announced today the Governor has signed legislation (S3220B/A5701B) they sponsored that designates a portion of Oriskany Boulevard in Whitesboro as the Officer Kevin F. Crossley Memorial Highway.

Officer Crossley was a Whitesboro Police officer who tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident on April 11, 2018, while on duty. The Village of Whitesboro requested the designation of a part of Oriskany Boulevard as a way to recognize and honor the sacrifice made by Officer Crossley, a seven-year veteran of the Police Department and a lifelong village resident.

“I am pleased that the Governor has signed this bill into law, and it was an honor to advocate for this legislation on the behalf of Officer Crossley's family and his law enforcement colleagues,” Deputy Minority Leader Griffo said. “Officer Crossley was a dedicated public servant who fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a police officer and serving his community. He was passionate about helping others and personified what a police officer should be. By designating a portion of Oriskany Boulevard in his honor, we will always remember the sacrifice made by Officer Crossley and will be eternally grateful for his service to the Whitesboro community and the region as a whole.”

“Officer Kevin Crossley was a beloved and dedicated police officer who lost his life protecting the community he grew up in, and for that, he deserves the utmost gratitude. His passing was a terrible tragedy, and my thoughts go out to his family and friends,” Assemblywoman Buttenschon said. “I am very thankful that the Governor has signed the bill and we are able to remember Officer Crossley by renaming a portion of Oriskany Boulevard, so his loved ones and members of the community can know that the profound impact he made on his community and his memory will never be forgotten.”
