Griffo honors area students with Youth Leadership Awards

UTICA – At a special ceremony Wednesday, New York State Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joseph Griffo, R-C-I-Rome, recognized high school students from several schools throughout his district who were nominated for New York State Senate Youth Leadership Recognition Awards.
The awards honor well-rounded candidates who excel not only academically, but also through leadership in extracurricular and volunteer activities. Students were nominated by their school districts for the award.
Honorees included:
- Hannah Miller: Adirondack Central School
- Maria Keeney: Rome Free Academy
- Alexis Payne: South Lewis High School
- Alayna Munn: South Lewis High School
- Fatime Abakar Khatir Adam: Thomas R. Proctor High School
- Hannah McCarthy: Whitesboro High School
- Daniel Yingling: Whitesboro High School
- Alyssa Sherline: Whitesboro High School
- Thomas Morreale: Whitesboro High School
Each student honored received a special certificate from Deputy Minority Leader Griffo.
“I am extremely proud to recognize these students from my district,” Deputy Minority Leader Griffo said. “They each are outstanding examples for their peers, and I know that the skills, abilities and talents that they have already developed will serve them well throughout their lives and future careers.”
