Griffo secures funding for Westmoreland projects

WESTMORELAND – New York State Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joseph Griffo, R-I-C-Rome, today joined with Town of Westmoreland officials and others for a ribbon cutting ceremony officially opening a refurbished walking trail and new pavilion at the Westmoreland Town Park.

Deputy Minority Leader Griffo successfully advocated for and obtained $75,000 in funding for the project, which included work to the trail and a new pavilion for residents and visitors to enjoy. The trail runs from the town park at 5045 Stop 7 Road to the Rising Stars Sports Center at
4980 State Route 233.

The Deputy Minority Leader also secured $60,000 in funding for the Westmoreland Town Pool/Anna Newman Kunz Memorial Pool at 7350 Kunz Road. The funding will go toward a new pump and filtration system, an electrical system and other necessary work at the site. The pool was closed for several years, but thanks to the funding secured by Deputy Minority Leader Griffo and $80,000 raised by the Westmoreland Summer Activities Association, it is expected to reopen later this month following an extensive renovation project.

“It is good to see that the Town of Westmoreland’s projects at the Westmoreland Town Pool/Anna Newman Kunz Memorial Pool and Westmoreland Town Park are progressing thanks to funding I was able to secure and the efforts of Supervisor Eisnor, the Westmoreland Summer Activities Association and many others,” Deputy Minority Leader Griffo said. “Ensuring that the public has up-to-date, modern and current recreational spaces has been a priority of mine since I first took office, and I know that these updated facilities will improve the quality of life in the community.”

I would like to thank Deputy Minority Leader Griffo, Scott Tarkowski, Randy Rundle, Patrick Cardillo, Chuck Hebbard, Jody Burdick and everyone else who has played a role in bringing these projects to reality.”
